A pair of carved walnut armchairs

These armchairs are made in the French manner but nevertheless unmitakably Dutch. Especially the sharply curved legs, the seatbacks decorated with rocaille ornamentation and also the flowerguirlandes on the backrets reflect the awkwardness of the Dutch rococo. This pair has a close similarity to a pair of armchairs in the collection of Museum Mr.Simon van Gijn in Dordrecht
