A very large baluster shaped polychrome vase
A very large Dutch Delft polychrome baluster shaped vase and cover, Cachemire decoration, alternating floral branches on rocky bases and chinoiserie tassels on diaper ground ending in Louis XIV ornaments.
In the rim and cover:grotesque masks. Traditionally cachemire Delftware is highly appreciated by collectors. It is made in the time around 1700, the colour and glaze are brilliant and the cachemire design is a (typical for Delftware) a mixture of European Baroque and Oriental influences.
Marked: LVE=Lambertus van Eeenhoorn, The Metale Pot workshop, around 1700.
This workshop and the Greek A were both the most appreciated Dutch Delftware workshops by William and Mary at the end of the 17th century.
Most probably this vase was part of a hughe garniture consisting of five or seven vases.It is the largest size they could make at this period. |
