Aquarel by Aert Schouman

Cornelis Troost is acclaimed the best painter in 18th century Holland, Aert Schouman is a great illustrator of sanimals in his own right. The majority of his watercolours depict birds. These works are superb both in execution and colourscheme. It is known that he occasionally used eggwhite to strengthen plumage of his subjects; one can discern this in our example.
