Charger in mixed technique

This dish has a particularly rich decoration. The centre depicts a gallant couple in a wooded landscape; the woman is blowing bubbles, the man is offering her a mug which probably contains soapsuds. The colourful, alternating decoration of the border is characteristic of the period. Palmettes like the present ones were also often used in the seventennth century albeit in a less elaborate form.
