Meissen, soupplate of the "Stadholders service

The Stadholders service consisted of 435 pieces.It was made by the Meissen factory ordered by the V.O.C. as a present to its chief Willem V (1748-1806)The service had individual views of cities, towns villages castles in the United Netherlands and the Indonesian island Java.The provinces of Brabant and Limburg were not represented, not being recognised as equal parts of the United Republic. The view of Utrecht on our plate is derived from a print by J.C. Phillips, after J.de Beijer(1703-1786), published in Amsterdam by Isaac Tirion.
